Workout of the Week – Single Leg (& Single Arm) Strength Ladder
The WOW, or Workout of the Week, is a short workout that you can do on your own as an add-on to your training. These workouts are designed to be mostly equipment free (so you can do them anywhere) and of medium to high intensity. Modify as needed depending on your fitness level and intensity needs.
It’s important to include single-sided movements in your workouts. After all, we don’t spend every moment of life on two feet.
Single leg exercises are especially important as they help improve balance and athleticism.
Both single leg and single arm exercises are good options if you have an injury on one side. Working each side of your body separately also helps address asymmetries that we all develop throughout life.
During this workout you’ll do a descending ladder of 12-10-8-6-4 of each exercise on each side.
Here are your exercises:
- Suitcase Reserve Lunges
- Double Dumbbell Single Leg Deadlifts
- Alternating Bicep Curls
- Alternating Tricep Kickbacks
Rest for 30 seconds to a minute between each rung of the ladder.
